If you're feeling uncertain or overwhelmed in your career or business right now, you're certainly not alone. Over the past few months, through my one-to-one coaching sessions, a common thread has emerged: uncertainty is everywhere. Whether you're a business owner trying to navigate shifting markets or an employee facing challenges in your role, the sense of unpredictability can feel draining.

But here's the truth: You have the power to take back control, even in the midst of uncertainty. In fact, it’s often in these moments of challenge where you have the greatest opportunity to reclaim your confidence and step forward with clarity. It starts by recognising that you can’t control everything—but you can control how you respond to the situation.
Here are three key strategies to help you find your power and move forward with ease and confidence, no matter where you are in your career or business:
1. Shift Your Mindset: Embrace What You Can Control
When everything around you feels uncertain, it’s easy to get caught up in the things you can’t control. Instead of letting that overwhelm you, focus on what you can control—your attitude, your actions, and your decisions. This might mean re-evaluating your daily routine or how you approach your work. Can you simplify your tasks? Prioritize the most impactful actions? Shift your mindset towards what you can influence, and you’ll feel a greater sense of control in the midst of chaos.
Tip: Start each day by writing down three things that are within your control. They can be small or big, but focusing on these will help you feel empowered from the start.
2. Create Routine & Strucutre to Navigate the Unknown
When the path forward isn’t clear, creating structure can be incredibly grounding. Set clear, achievable goals for yourself, whether you're running your own business or contributing within a team. These goals should reflect your long-term vision but be flexible enough to adapt as situations evolve. Having a set structure gives you a roadmap for how to move forward, even when external factors feel unpredictable. Break down large projects into smaller, manageable steps and celebrate the small wins along the way.
Tip: Build a robust planning system to really help you zoom out of your everyday and understand what's critical to your success and wellbeing.
3. Leverage Support and Build a Strong Network
Having a support system means you don’t have to face challenges alone, and it opens the door to fresh perspectives and advice that can help you make empowered decisions.
Whether you’re a business owner navigating tough decisions or an employee trying to navigate business change, talking things through with someone you trust can help you see opportunities where you might have otherwise seen only obstacles. It's also great to connect with someone who you can talk to about the situation objectively (someone with no emotional ties to you or the situation).
Tip: If you're an employee many companies will fund coaching, so don't forget to ask the question. If you are a small business owner - remember that its important that you invest in your professional development - make sure you have planned for this in 2025.
Moving Forward with Confidence
In times of uncertainty, the most important thing you can do is recognise your own power to shape your circumstances. When you take control of your actions, decisions, and mindset, you’ll be able to navigate any challenge that comes your way. You'll also feel less stifled -that sense of autonomy is so important for good decision making.
